1) Keep your drivers happy

Yes we mean it. You may not agree to it. But that’s a fact. People love to treated fairly isn’t? Drivers are the integral part of any tour across the world. In most of the case he act as a local guide too. Most of the drivers know the about the local attractions which you may not know otherwise. He can take you to the non-touristy places as well. Below are our suggestions to get the maximum service from your driver during your next Kerala tour package.

  • Give a small tip during the first day of the tour. May be couple of hundred rupees. Don’t keep the tip till you finish the trip. This will make him happy and will lead to better service.
  • You can also provide him food once in a while. This will not pinch your purse much but we found this helps a lot to build up a rapport.

2) Try out local foods

Don’t finish your Kerala tour without trying out the local food. Sea food is a must if you are travelling to the northern part of Kerala like Calicut, Kannur etc. Malabar (Northern part of Kerala) is a place for foodies. 5) Witness the ancient martial arts performance.

You may not get a chance wot see the traditional martial art performance anywhere in the world except in Kerala. The martial art is called “Kalarippayattu”. This is an awesome sight. The performance happens in major tourist places like Munnar, Thekkady, Aleppey and Cochin. The show usually held during the late evening, say around 7:00 pm. This last for about an hour. This would cost you around Rs 400 per person. If you are in Cochin Greenix is a place you should visit to experience all the above under one roof.

6) Try out Toddy!

If you are little adventurous, step into a local toddy shop and ask for the fresh toddy. There are some exotic and family friendly toddy shops across Kerala. Mullappanthal, nettoor toddy shop, Karimpumkala etc. You can also taste the exotic Kerala fish curry, beef roast etc in a typical toddy shop. But make sure that you visit a clean, hygienic one.

7) Get an authentic Ayurvedic massage

Kerala is known for Ayurveda. An authentic ayurvedic body massage is a must if you are visiting Kerala during monsoon. Monsoon is a season when Ayurveda treatments are more effective on our body. Every year people use this season to relax, rejuvenate and refresh their body through the numerous Ayurveda treatments. You need to be picky and choosy while selecting an ayurvedic massage center.
