Kochi, the sandwiched land, between the great Arabian sea and western ghats is one of the famous tourist attractions in the world.This is one of the historically important port city in south india. Kochi comprises of Ernakulam, Mattenchery and Fort Kochi. fort kochi and Mattenchery still maintains the past glory of its culture and heritage. And now, ernakulam has became one of the IT Hubs of India. if you are going to visit Kerala- our god’s own country, there is no way out that you may miss a chance to visit to ernakulam which is rich in places that gives happiness to both your eyes and heart.

The must see places in ernakulam are:


Fort Kochi, is located about thirteen kilometers from the heart of ernakulam. As we all know, this place is very much famous for its attractive beaches, Chinese fishing nets, and richness still evident in the architecture of the town.This town is considered as an odd one out category because of the European touch in all aspects.


Jewish synagogue which is also known as paradesi synagogue is built in the year of 1568 and it is considered as one of the oldest active synagogues of our age.This peculiar synagogue is situated in the old part of Mattenchery town and that place is called jew town.


The Dutch Palace otherwise known as Mattenchery Palace is another tourist spot in Ernakulam. And this is situated very near to the Jewish town.This palace was built in 1555 A.D by the Portuguese and then they presented this Wonderful palace to the Raja of kochi, veera kerala varma. This palace is rich in the collection of temple murals, different portraits and exhibits of various rajas of kochi.


This place is the popular meeting place for the people of ernakulam. This is one of the hangout place where we can sit camly and enjoy the freshness of the breeze and the beauty of the sunset. This wonderful pathway is built facing the vembanad lake, which is the largest backwater lake in kerala.Very recently, two bridges were built, named the Chinese fishing net bridge and the rainbow bridge.


This long sandy beach is located about 25 kilomteres from ernakulam. Cherai beach is located in vyppin island. This beach presents a mindblowing view of both sunrise and sunset. And this beach is facing our Arabian sea.


The two titles, the first heritage museum and the largest archaeological museum in Kerala belongs to the great hill palace museum.This huge palace is situated in tripunitura, kochi. Another information about hill palace is that, it served as the administrative headquaters of kochi rajas. And it was built in the year of 1865.


This is a well known palace which is loacted in the bolgatty island in kochi. The history behind the palace is, it was built by the dutch people in the year of 1744 . Another interesting fact about bolgatty palace is, it is counted as one of the oldest dutch palaces that are situated outside Holland. And now, the government of Kerala has converted this palace as the heritage resort of our state.


Kodanad, which is a rural village is located around 42 kilometers from ernakulam. This elephant training centre was established in the 1950, and thus kodanad became famous. As our indian government banned the capturing of elephants, kodanad is now just serving as a rescue training centre for baby elephants and wounded elephants.


Willingdon Island is the largest man-made island in india. It is built in 1933 under the strict supervision of sir ROBERT BRISTOW. Cochin port trust and Cochin harbor terminus are functioning in this island. Willingdon island is rich in the presence of eye-catching walkways and jettys. Among the jettys, the attractive one is “Embarkation jetty” which is having a walk way and jetty that are close by.
